Disturbing Case of Blackmail and Assault in Gujarat
A college student from Banas kantha district in Gujarat has reported being blackmailed by seven men who allegedly assaulted her multiple times over a span of 16 months.
According to police, one of the six suspects befriended the 20-year-old on Instagram after she enrolled in a college in Palanpur in 2023. The FIR indicates that in November 2023, he convinced her to join him for breakfast at a hotel.
The FIR details that the accused intentionally spilled food on her clothing and led her to a room under the guise of helping her clean up. While she was in the bathroom tending to her clothes, the suspect, identified as Vishal Chaudhary, entered and recorded her without consent. When she protested, he allegedly threatened to share the video online.

The FIR further claims that he used this video to coerce the student into sexual encounters with him and his associates at various locations from November 2023 to February 2025. Following her report to the Palanpur taluka police, a case was filed against six known individuals and one unidentified person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) concerning rape and criminal intimidation.
Additionally, the police have initiated proceedings against the accused under section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which addresses the distribution of obscene material electronically. An officer from the Palanpur taluka police station stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
